Red Fang was up in B’ham on Tuesday and proceeded to blow the roof off of the Shakedown. You know something great is happening when a Tuesday night show is sold out and the air in the bar is thick and humid with gross and sweat. Whoever they had working the sound board was a genie; they managed to be both LOUD and incredibly clear, something you rarely hear at metal shows. Usually it’s a wall of sound and drums, but with Red Fang you could hear the vocal harmonizing, the bass, all the stuff that normally gets lost in the wash.
And it’s great that happened, because they put on an amazing live performance. I like to use “does it sound like the album” as a gauge of if a band is really tight; if it sounds way off then their recorded track must have taken a long time and that was the one good one. If it’s dialed in to the CD performance, they know what works and can do it at the drop of a hat, and that’s when you know you’re seeing a kickass band.
Also, there was a dude in a wheelchair crowd surfing. Which was totally amazing.
Anyway, behold, The Meadows, a song/video they did in collaboration with Scion. I guess it’s a car ad, that’s why they’re eating food in slow mo.
