Friday Morning Metal – Judas Priest – Painkiller – Rocksmith Bass

So I’m getting blisters and feeling like a spaz playing Rocksmith, generally having a great time. Then I decided to buy the Judas Priest Pack for it. Breakin the Law, Living After Midnight, and Painkiller. I tried to play Painkiller last night, fingerpicking because I apparently don’t like my arms. After sucking mightily, I checked out Youtube for people playing the song. It’s pretty awesome. Definitely gives a feel for how frenetic that song is.

Some day I’ll be able to do that. Maybe 2020.

Friday Morning Metal – Judas Priest – Breakin the Law

I’m really digging deep for this one. And why not, this is the 100th post. Judas Priest’s Breakin the Law is a masterpiece of the new wave of British heavy metal and a fantastic song if you’re learning guitar. That solo is pretty tricky, however.

The song is such an anthem that the last time I saw Judas Priest perform the song, Halford didn’t even sing. He just held the mic over the crowd and had all of us do it for him. It was pretty amazing, those screaming metal heads sounded kind of in tune.

As for the video, I didn’t know you could rob a bank with metal back in the early 80’s, but there you go.

Oh and here’s Beavis & Butthead doing it too:

Friday Morning Metal – Pantera Featuring Rob Halford – Light Comes Out of Black

Man that’s a hell of a title. I have learned that Pantera & Rob Halford worked together for a song in the Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie. And it was amazing. As is that movie. So here’s the song, Light Comes Out of Black.

Friday Morning Metal – Spongebob Remixes

One of my roommates in college loved Spongebob, so our TV was tuned to Nick like half the day. My favorite bit from the show is when they are in a marching band for a halftime show, and end up playing Sweet Victory instead of some standard marching band fare. There’s more to it, I recommend checking out the ep. Anyway, it’s been metalified by Youtubers so I want to share.

Judas Priest Painkiller Version:

And an Amon Amarth Version:

Friday Morning Metal – Judas Priest – Painkiller

I can’t believe this song is 21 years old. Nor this album. It sounds like it could be a power metal album from the past couple years. The drums, the guitars, everything gives it the feel of a Hibria or new 3 Inches of Blood, and it’s 21 years old. It’s going to be fantastic see Priest live in a couple weeks. Halford is a metal god. Here’s Judas Priest – Painkiller.
