Friday Morning Metal – Havok – F.P.C.

MORE THRASH! This time with a wicked groovy bass line. Havok’s got a new album out, Conformicide, and this is the lead-in track for the album. With the good plinky plunky guitar intro like metal albums of yore. Then some funky bass slap, before kicking you in the face with solid thrash that hearkens back to the late 80’s and early 90’s.

The vocals on it give off a bit of a Peace Sells vibe early on, which is pretty great. Then they talk about political correctness which I guess is something to yell about. I liked it better when metal talked about dragons and wizards and old wars and poems and stuff. But the song shreds, so there’s that.

Behold! F.P.C.

Friday Morning Metal – Havok – Out of My Way

I’ve posted about Havok before, they’re a solid thrash band, and they’re from Denver! Anyway, a buddy sent me a “hey look at what I’m listening to” text the other day so I figured I’d share it here too. The drums in Out of My Way are fantastic, frenetic, and fun? Alliteration in the rule of threes, I think that’s a bonus. Anyway, this is off Time Is Up, which is a good solid thrash offering. It’s nice hearing this kind of guitar & drum work without some death metal growl. I don’t like the death metal growl.

Friday Morning Metal – HAVOK – D.O.A.

I just started listening to HAVOK a few days ago and really dig on their sound. It’s hard to find good thrash nowadays, so it was a pleasant surprise when I heard Time Is Up for the first time. And I’m pretty sure when my coworker gets back from vacation, she’s going to be annoyed by my incessant foot tapping.

Here’s D.O.A.
