Have you ever started listening to a metal song, and you fall into the trap of pigeonholing what’ll happen where because you’ve listened to a flobbidy-jillion different metal bands and you’re feeling a little snarky? And then all of a sudden there’s an honest-to-god bass solo in the new song you’re just listening to?

That just happened to me with this Vicious Rumors song, Take it or Leave it. The song leads with a solid bass intro, but plenty of bands do that before going into the song what is devoid of bass. But no. Vicious Circle has fully embraced the bass that it gets a kickass solo right after the guitar solo.

The song is altogether badass and I’m looking forward to the rest of the album. Because the world needs more metal, especially kickass bass solos in metal.
