The Map of Metal helped me appreciate a lot of early 70s metal, like Deep Purple. Highway Star is just fast and fantastic. And proof that more metal bands need to incorporate organs into their lineup.
Also playing the song in Rock Band is a great workout.
It’s unfortunate Black Tide doesn’t really sound like this anymore. Because this is pretty awesome speed metal. But instead, they sound more like the chuggy stuff that seems to be prevalent in the US. Oh well. At least Shockwave is a totally awesome song. As is their cover of Metallica’s “Hit the Lights”
Bang Camaro gets to be metal today. They have 8 guitarists and 15 singers. They’re all riffs and choruses. It’s like they distilled the essence of 80’s arena rock into a song. And that song is Push Push (Lady Lightning).
