Hey remember last year when GWAR covered Carry On Wayward Son? This year they did another cover for the AV Club, this time it was Billy Ocean’s “Get out of my Dreams, Get Into my Car” which somehow doesn’t have guitar in it. But they put guitar in it. And then they put something else in it. Totally great.
AV Club’s Undercover feature is pretty fun. They get a bunch of reader-submitted songs, then invite bands to cover them. And here’s GWAR playing Kansas’ Carry On Wayward Son. It’s terrific. Terrific.
Cory Smoot, AKA “Flattus Maximus,” the guitarist for GWAR since 2002, passed away about two weeks ago. And though I don’t really listen to GWAR, you can’t deny their impact on metal and hard rock. So you get two videos today: Let us Slay, and Beavis & Butthead rocking out to Jack the World.
