TUNISIAN METAL. My big tall friend sent me this video yesterday, for the band Myrath, based out of Tunis, Tunisia. According to the Wikipedia, they were a cover band called X-Tazy before making the transition into Prog Metal. This sounds a bit more power metally, or even like quasi-folky-something power metal. The use of orchestral elements really fills out the sound. And the vocals are really solid.

This video, though, it’s got a kind of polish that most metal bands only hope to get. Big & bombastic & reminiscent of like Prince of Persia or that Mummy movie featuring the Rock. Also I hope their touring drumkit also appears to have grown out of a tree. That’s just awesome.
