Friday Morning Metal – Battlecross – Absence

Battlecross released a new album in 2015, Rise to Power, and I’m just sinking my teeth into it. About a year ago I posted a video for My Vaccine and claimed their vocals weren’t my cup of tea. I guess I changed my mind because Rise to Power is a pretty solid album and I’m digging on the thrashy vocals a ton now.

Absence has all the hallmarks of a good thrash song, crazy drum intro, frenetic timing, noodlish guitars, and the screechy angry vocals. The guitar solo is great, with all the soaring riffage as though they were transported from 1985 directly into my computer.

Anyway, if you haven’t received your daily recommended dosage of thrash, here you go.

Friday Morning Metal – Battlecross – My Vaccine

Hey remember “They Live”? That great movie where Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David have a badass fight scene because Keith David wouldn’t wear a pair of sunglesses? Also where Piper says he’s there to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he’s all out of bubblegum? It turns out Battlecross remembers too, and so the video for My Vaccine pulls heavily from it. Except this time it’s headphones.

The vocals aren’t necessarily my cup of tea, but the rest of the song is pretty solid. Anyway, enjoy!
