Woo 80’s metal. And from Seattle, no less! Q5 got started in 1983, and apparently were a supergroup? They combined members of C.O.R.E. and TKO to create some heavy dang metal. I had not heard of either of those bands, but their combined force creates a solid early 80’s sound that would have fit right into the early 80’s. Kind of hard rockin, kind of heavy metal, kind of rollickin, it’s a good addition to a heavy metal deep cut playlist.
Their first album, Steel the Light, is chock full of big riffs and big vocals, definitely sounding like the soundtrack to me riding a motorcycle while wearing a kickass denim jacket and those gloves that don’t have fingers on them.
However. Don’t listen to their newest album. It’s weird. And slow.
Behold, Missing in Action, the lead track off their debut album.
