Granted, I haven’t seen a lot of metal shows in my life, but I’ve never seen a band command a crowd like Iron Maiden can. 35,000 crazy ass metalheads freaking out, and once they hear the opening riff to Fear of the Dark, they all settle down and sing along.
Best comment on the video:
“My GF says that IRON MAIDEN is so fucking old. And i answer to her: Well your mom is so fucking old too and you still listen to her”
One of my buddies sent this to me a while ago and it’s just weird and fun to listen to. Van Canto performing Iron Maiden’s Fear of the Dark. The guitar riffs are what really sell it for me.
I didn’t start listening to Iron Maiden until 10th grade when I got Carmageddon 2 and a few choice tracks were part of the game: Aces High, Be Quick or Be Dead, and the Trooper. I guess there was a track from when Blaze Bayley was the singer, but I don’t think that counts. Kind of like Gary Cherone in Van Halen. But it wasn’t until I got into college that I started enjoying them in earnest. Having a roommate who used Pantera’s The Great Southern Trendkill as an alarm made it easy to learn more about the various forms of metal through history.
Anyway, Iron Maiden’s newest album, The Final Frontier, arrived on my doorstep Tuesday, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be listening to it a ton for quite some time. It’s a lot like the last three albums, and anything involving a Space Eddie automatically kicks ass.
