Friday Morning Metal – Night Viper – The Wolverine

These Spotify weekly recommendations are getting better and better. This week they recommended a band by the name of Night Viper, hailing from Göthenburg, Sweden. With a kickass lady singer and lady drummer. They have a raucous 1970’s vibe, with dueling guitarmonies, bigass drums, and bigass vocals.

It’s pretty awesome that throwback bands are still kicking around. Maybe they’re not throwback, I’m not sure. Either way, they’re fast and have a classic sound, and it’s great.

I’m digging into their self-title album and enjoying it quite a bit. Curse of a Thousand Deaths has the great slow burn foreboding feel, like old Sabbath, before jumping into some fast-paced metal love. The vocals have a bite that fits incredibly well with the band’s overall sound, especially in tracks like Run For Cover and Night Viper.

I tried searching for reviews on the album and most of what I got were G.I. Joe toy reviews. I guess Night Vipers were bad guys who lived in total darkness. It’s too bad Hasbro didn’t know that that’s how you become blind.

Behold, the Wolverine!
